No need to linger in a way to a wrong direction. How to know if a way leads to a wrong direction? Go and see! But there are so many ways to explore. "Quick and dirty" doesn't mean "at random".

Strong framework

Main goals shall be identified from the very beginning. Main goals shall be addressed by several projects. Interfaces between projects shall be carefully specified. Main milestones into each project shall be specified too (delay and deliverables). These steps shall be only modified if a major breakthrough occurs.
